Parent Teacher Association
The friends of St John’s exist to provide closer links between home and school and is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school and pre-school. Working towards a common goal the Association works jointly with St John’s First School and Pre-school to:
- Support the school and pre-school
- Help children and parents enjoy their time at school
- Develop a supportive and welcoming community
All parents and members of the school community can get involved even if they only have a small amount of time available.
What we do
We run a varied programme of events and activities throughout the school year including a Christmas Fair, quiz night, summer fair and Grandparents afternoon. As well as being hugely enjoyable, these events help raise lots of money for our school. Examples of what the money raised goes towards include subsidising class trips and new resources.
Parents who would like to be involved with the Friends Association meet to plan events and discuss what the money we’ve raised should be spent on. We ask for a representative from each year group to be a point of contact for other parents/carers in their child’s class.
At the beginning of the school year the Friends Association meet to discuss what events will take place for the coming academic year. Each year group takes responsibility for a different event and the class representatives will ask for help and support in running their year groups event.
You may work for, or own a company that may be able to support us by donating raffle prizes or sponsoring events. However or whenever you can support us your help is gratefully received.
Any support that you could provide would be most welcome. If you want to find out more about St John’s Friends or would like to get involved, please contact the school office for more details or join our Facebook page.
